Chamber 5-4: Run!

[First Vestibule]
Darts pepper both Tharl and Vondal. Tharl is prepared and takes cover. Vondal is forced towards the middle due to the terror of the ethereal vorpal skull-blades that springs up from the floor.
Tech: One hit on Vondal, for 4 points damage from the darts. Vondal pushed 1 square towards the middle.

[Second Vestibule]
The blackfire jets of the second vestibule ignite once again, filling the chamber with burning pitch. Ambrose is safe between the two vestibules, but oh is it hot!

[Third Vestibule]
The Dread Marilith Statues continue their attack on the chamber with slashing iron blades, but there are no targets to fight. Joryn stands just outside their reach.

[Deathwave]
The wave of death once again proceeds down the hallway, passing through the doors and through the bodies of Joryn, Ambrose, and Vondal. Joryn's vampiric makeup somehow helps him resist, and the only thing keeping Ambrose from suffering Finding's fate is his Shield spell. Vondal is not so lucky, however. His flesh and equipment are vaporized, and he too now is a dwarven skeleton.
Tech: The push by the darts combined with the deathwave (which recharged, roll of 5) was bad news for Vondal. Vondal is now a skeleton with no EQ and will die on his first failed save of 9 or less.

OOC: I know I skipped Tharl, but I'll allow him two standard actions this turn to make it up.

A lot of death going on here, but this chamber is still winnable!

  1. Vondal hops around to avoid the spiky blocks jutting up from the floor. Then he finds a sot to brace himself against the wall, calms his soul, then shoots out mental imagery as his weapon against the dark forces.

  2. First, Joryn pauses and offers a prayer for Vondal and Finding who both lost their lives from the fearsome death wave. Then he turns and speaks slowly, "I cannot read this language, but I know someone who can." He then attempts to summon his demon to translate the words on the door and perhaps give credence to what is happening in this horrific chamber.

    Tech: Minor, Summon Demonbound creature (if it still works)
    wait to see what he says if it is indeed successful.

  3. OOC: Ambrose may be toast too, since the Shield power is an encounter power, not at-will power.

    Maybe he will have a chance to take two standard actions with his action point next turn.

    OOC: No, Ambrose. You're fine. Shield works until the "end of your next turn". It's Legit!

    [Joryn]
    Joryn summons the demon, and indeed the demon appears. It turns to Joryn and says, "You're fucking kidding me, right? After what you put me through with the death ring? Give me one good reason right now that I don't pull your spine out through your nose."

    OOC: Ah, speaking is a free action. :)

  5. "Simple Ryth, you want access to the mortal world and right now I'm your doorway. If I die, you have to find another one and right now we're all dying in here!" Joryn wails loudly at the demon and gestures wildly back at the skeleton remains of his comrades. "If you want me to make it through this, I need to know what that door says! Right now...you're my only hope....grr." Joryn bites through the last bit with a growl.

    Tech:
    Free Action(?) Diplomacy +4 to convince demon to obey

  6. Feeling the purple wave of energy ripple through him, Ambrose looks at his himself, greatful for at least another chance at life and not the rattle of bones.

    Unable to determine any other way to advance than jump the pit, the elf positions himself to his right. "Joryn, I'm jumping across. Help catch me, if you can."

    Then back around and forward to get at least a 10' running start, he leaps across.
