You awaken,
Soaking wet,
Chilled to your core,
Flat on your back.
Above you, the dark maelstrom clouds swirl angrily in the night sky, unleashing a torrent of rain. Lightning bolts pierce like they waged war high above. The swampy ground beneath desires to swallow you whole, and each breath you take of the poisonous acidic air fills your lungs with agony.Suddenly, a lightning bolt rips from the heavens to strike a nearby tortured tree. With hissing pain, it burns with an intensity despite the storm, and gives light to your surroundings.
Your are outside a massive circular tower of iron and brimstone whose heights defy your sight. A 50' wide moat separates you from this tower, fed by the sludge of the swamp. The moat guards a single rusted portcullis entryway that leads the way within... the portcullis is mostly raised, but the corridor beyond is hidden in darkness.
A spectral bridge spans the moat like a sheet of glass from the portcullis to your feet. The bridge itself a prison of swirling condemned souls that push and claw at their soulcage.
In the other direction, three smaller squat 30' tall towers stand - one of bronze, one of iron, one of copper. A wooden door set into the base of each. Shadowy figures move about above them, but you cannot make them out. To the sides, six titanic statues of legendary monstrous creatures tower above you. Each reaches out with an outstretched hand, palm upward as if to accept something from you.
Medusa Marilith Dragon Lich Chimera Iron Golem
You try to recall the moments before you arrived here, and perhaps if you had a few minutes you could... but right now there's too much demanding your attention. How you got here and who you are exactly will have to wait, for a battle is about to begin.
The six statues demand in unison, their voices unemotional:
"THIS IS THE FIRST OF THREE TRIALS. DETERMINE THE TRUE TREASURE BURIED AMONG THE FALSE. PLACE IT IN OUR OUTSTRETCHED HAND! FOR EVERY BRAVERY YOU DISPLAY IN THE BATTLE, YOU MAY ASK US ONE POLAR QUESTION THAT WE ARE BOUND TO ANSWER TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. NOW, CHOOSE WHICH OF US IS YOUR DESTRUCTOR!!!"Beckoned by the statues, a multitude of objects rise upward out of the swamp, just enough for you to make out the glitter and shine of treasure. Must easily be a hundred objects here, scattered throughout the area.
CHOOSE.
OOC: Welcome crusaders to the first chapter of Purge of the Sin-Eaters!
Posting Rate: I expect a minimum of 2-3 posts per week. There's no adventure time-limit, but should I find posting lacking I will apply brutal moves against you until you're dead (or picking up the pace), so it's in your best interest to keep things lively.
The beauty of Dungeon World is that you can go whenever you want! There's no initiative to keep track of who goes when, so just jump in when it feels right to do so. However, I realize that Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so do not worry about next week so much. Ditto at Christmas time/New Years.
I am a generous god. I will reward bonus XP to those who post regularly, and you can level up mid-game!
Feel free to post your reactions and introductions, and choose your first destructor among the list of statues. Maybe I'll go by popular vote... maybe I'll just take the first one posted...
One final thing - your creativity as players is what makes this game shine. Feel free to introduce new threats and environmental problems. I will incorporate this, and you earn XP!
Addendum, Treasure List:

ReplyDeleteI spring to my feet and look to my surroundings. Unaware of my current location and the dangers lurking, I pull my rapier from its sheath and make my way towards the pile of items. Once at the pile of objects protruding from the muck, I peer over the items searching for items that "stick out" as well as items that could potentially help me out in the near future. ie keys, grappling hook, spare throwing knives, etc.

Using my perception/wisdom to discern realities to distinguish between these items

My name is Aaron. It's gonna be a good time adventuring with you guys. Best of luck!!!
[Vulture]
ReplyDeleteVulture finds the following items within his immediate vicinity, each half buried in the muck of the swamp. By merely looking at the items, he instantly knows what they are and what they can do, as if the items themselves are reaching out to his mind.
Bronze Censer of Elemental Control
Ash Wand of Secret Door / Trap Detect
Silver Phylactery (Amulet) of Faithfulness
Iron Longsword -2, Cursed
Scroll of Power Word Kill
Scroll of Raise Dead
Mithril Splint Mail +1
Oak (Wood) Staff of Curing
Gold Dagger +1, +2 vs large creatures
Mahogany Figurine of Wondrous Power (Vulture, choose which animal)
Tech: Discern Realities, roll+1 for an 8. Vulture takes 1 point of acid/poison damage from inhalation! He has 17 hp remaining.
[Vulture]
ReplyDelete"I cannot be out here for much longer." I say as I cough, nearly uncontrollably from the fumes. Covering my mouth and nose with my scarf, in hopes of filtering out some of the gas, I reach for the 2 things that catch my eye: the golden dagger, glistening in the firelight behind me, and the handcrafted mahogany vulture that fate has laid out in front of me.
[Tech]
Defy danger using INT to avoid poisonous gas damage
[Azul Khadon]
ReplyDeleteIt is cold.
Her eyes slowly opening, the echoes of the commanding voices fading, Azul Khadon stares into the tumultuous soup of the sky above. This is not the Great Southern Desert. She rises from the swamp; is it cold, sucking, slurping at her flesh, already soaked through her kuttoneth and kiffeyah. A chill shudders through her.
Eying the imposing figures surrounding her, her eyes lock upon that of the wasted figure. The undead, a walking, mummified corpse preserved for all time. The Lich.
She takes a soggy step, and feels a sharp coldness pressing into her. A chert necklace lies in the muck, thin and nearly transparent, in the shape of a man transforming into a bird of prey. Tracing its shape with her fingers, she muses over the ancient symbol...
[Tech]
Spout Lore +0. What is this artifact's story?
[OOC]
Im really excited to play with everyone! Thanks, Joe, for putting the game together!
I hope its OK with you that I created my own found item, just trying to be creative with the narrative.
[OOC]
ReplyDeleteWill post more later, but I wanted to start the discussion of this puzzle. My first thought is that bronze is the only alloy listed and the solution may be a "one of these things is not like the other". Scrolls are paper, got some wooden stuff, pure metals, then bronze.
I think the choose thy destructor piece is a way for us to determine which theme dungeon and/or end boss we want to face. In which case, I vote Marilith, expecting to have our Fighter and Druid heavy party well equipped for Marilith challenges.
Hmm, that may be, but some of the treasures themselves seem linked to the statues thematically (lich/phylactery, Iron Golem/iron longsword, dragon/elements, medusa/detect hidden things (maybe a stretch, but 'not seeing' is the link I'm seeing)). It may be a matter of how we pair each treasure with each statue.
DeleteOr, the dragon may be linked to the censer, since it is used to burn incense. For the 'element' bit above I was thinking of chromatic dragons, which might be inappropriate here.
Delete[OOC]
DeleteIt's either the form of the destructor (WHAT DID YOU DO RAY?!?!?!) or each has different knowledge of the tower. Either way, our item lies inside the buildings. I saw we throw open the three doors, and at least see what's inside. Also, I am moving discussion to the OOC thread.
[OOC]
ReplyDeleteFull disclosure: I playtested a version of this puzzle for Joe early on. It's the only part of the module I've seen and I'll hold back a little so as not to ruin it.After we're past this, my knowledge ends and I'll be really useless ;)
[Sornë]
Sornës' eyes snap open as the flat monotone of the voice rolls over him like a frost, rasing gooseflesh beneath his leathers. His taloned feet scratch for purchase as the elf stands to regard the statues. His eyes linger longest on the lich and his lips twist back into a snarl.
The elf takes a few swift strides and throws himself into the air, taking on the form of one of his less-favorite raptors. As an owl, he uses his sharp eyes to inventory the items strewn about the area.
[Tech]
Shapeshift (roll + WIS)
OOC: I should mention a couple of things. First, I only post typically during business hours, weekdays. Second, the item list above was only a fraction of the items (about 100 total). I was going to have you guys do rolling to find them, but that now sounds tedious... so the full list is coming tomorrow when I can post from work.
ReplyDeleteHaargarth, still bloodstained but with no current recollection why, lifts himself and his flail up, peering up into the cleansing rain. He sees his fellows toiling in the mud, and the threats around him. His heart barely skips a beat. Over to others he goes, constantly flexing his fingers and testing the grip of his flail. "These are gifts, brothers, don them and rejoice!" Haargarth moves to pick up the mithril armor, sliding off his bloody chainmail. Almost without thinking, he slides a few other items into his pack, a small chill running up his spine as the amulet, wand, and dagger disappear into his sack in between flashes of lightning.
ReplyDelete[OOC]
I get off twitter for one night and look how far behind I get! Time to get down to business. I say we open the doors. Don't worry, I got it.
Sounds good, Ill see you in the OOC.
DeleteNot fearing the shadows or the rain, Harrgarth approaches the iron doored tower. His gaze scans the nearby walls and the door itself, and if nothing threatening appears, he pulls it open with his left hand, flail ready to go in his right.
ReplyDelete[OOC]
That's it, I've only got so much time between meetings today. It's door opening time.
[Tech]
If needed, Discern realities Roll+WIS(+0)
Melliandre groans as she gets up from the ground, fussing with her clothing and hair. She looks around in wonder at the statues as they speak, and the items that rise from the ground. She frowns as she considers the situation, and searches her mind for tales and songs that might help puzzle things out.
ReplyDelete"Battle...?" She asks of no one in particular as she spies the others while she thinks. No one is even looking at her. How rude. Ugh.
[Tech]
I'll use my elf bard thing; "When you enter an important location (your call) you can ask the GM for one fact from the history of that location."
(Would this be covered under Bardic Lore: Grand Histories of the Known World? If so I'll have a question from that too, but.)
And to cover bases, a Spout Lore roll, which is +1.
[Vulture]
ReplyDeleteThe dagger feels good in your hands, as if it was meant for you. The vulture feels wicked and unusual, but you think just throwing it into the air will turn activate it.
OOC: The dagger gives you +1 to attacks with it, and +1 damage... or +2 damage vs large creatures. Note, it never gives more than +1 to attacks. Meanwhile, Defy Danger = 10. You will not take more poison damage unless a hard move is made.
[Azul Khadon]
Azul takes the necklace into her hands and realizes it is not actually a magic item at all. The name of Sapphire Heart suddenly comes to her mind, as well as the number seven. This keepsake belonged to Sapphire Heart... why does that name sound so familiar? Then Azul remembers; Sapphire Heart was the seventh sin-eater, long ago. The one who never returned, and is lost somewhere in this great tower. All six crusaders in this battle are sin-eaters, and Azul even remembers a bit about the moments before arriving here. The scene of a grand feast, a great hall, they were eating before they arrived here...
Tech: Spout Lore 10.
[Sornë]
Sornë takes to the air in the form of the owl, and sees all the treasures available in the swamp below! He also spies catapults upon the top of the towers being loaded by ogres with explosive-filled hill giant skulls as ammo!
Tech: Shapeshift 7, gain hold 2. You spend 1 to gain the full treasure list provided in the main post above. You have 1 hold remaining.
[Haargaarth]
Haargaarth does indeed pocket the items he seeks, to no ill effect. When he opens the wooden door to the squat iron tower, it opens easily inward. Within the tower there is a spiral stairs leading up to the top of the tower (trapdoor in ceiling) as well as a heavy iron grate in the middle of the floor covering a ladder/shute leading down beneath. Haargaarth doesn't have time to contemplate traps, when the massive ogre guard just within the door reaches out to strangle Haagaarth's neck! Haargaarth, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
OOC: No rolls needed. Let me know exactly which items by full name you take, as well as how you react to the ogre. Thanks!
[Melliandre]
Melliandre realizes quickly that this place does not exist in the real world, but instead is a dream-representation. They are dreaming! Melliandre coughs on the poisons fumes, taking 1 point of damage. She has 14 hp remaining.
Tech:Spout Lore 8. This would be more Planar Spheres than Grand Histories.
[LICH]
A lightning bolt arcs down from the heavens to strike the titanic statue of the Lich! It explodes in a great shower of stones that land all about you, and when you regain your footing - a dark figure standing 7 feet tall wearing purple robes inlaid with golden abyssal runes stands in your midst. The cloak's hood covers its face of darkness, and its hands reach outward, purple energy beginning to build in its weathered skeletal hands, and a deep chuckle from its hidden mouth.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING!
OOC: Let me know if I missed anything, first time back running a play-by-blog in a while... intense but fun!
Twisting away from the ogre's giant hands, Haargarth brings up his flail swiftly, looking to knock any remaining teeth, it's nose, and the rest of his uneven skull off. He hears the sounds of war magic behind him, but is not distracted. Once the Ogre is dead, then he will rejoin look back to survey the field, so confident he is of success.
ReplyDelete[Tech]
In terms of items pocketed, Haargarth grabbed the Ash Wand of Secret Door / Trap Detect and
Silver Phylactery (Amulet) of Faithfulness, after donning the Mithril Splint Mail +1. They were the first ones listed....I won't be any more greedy and take from the rest of the list. I am going to assume the Mail ups my Armor to 3? Until it comes alive and flays my skin where I stand?
HACK AND SLASH, BABY! (ROLL+STR(+2)) Joe, don't forget I have the messy and forceful tags for when I hit with my signature weapon, along with Piercing 2. I don't know how hard this ogre's hide is, but I'm more than willing to chop through it.
THEN ITS GET TO THE CHOPPA TIME! Unless you all want to fight the lich. Seems the form of our destructor has been chosen for us. By picking up an item or opening the door? Hrmm...
[MAEDROS SON OF FAENOR]
ReplyDeleteHard eyes, Battered Helm, Callous Skin, Lithe Body
Maedros is a totally badass Elf Lord in gleaming chain armor. The muck that clings to everyone else sloughs off his immaculate golden mail. An elf-blade is unsheathed, glowing brightly against the gloom... it is none other than THE GLEAMING BLADE OF ETERNAL STARLIGHT!!! A most powerful weapon of legend.
He says, "We should use the power and knowledge of these statues to cleave through this knot of treasures. They are no doubt false and a here to temp us.
Then he yells at Haargath, "Too quickly the tempers of Man flare! Come hither and help me out, bro."
Also tall, Maedros leaps at the newly animated Lich and swings his shining blade, attempting to cut off the Lich's bony head at the neck.
[TECH]
Hack and Slash +2 (treat swords as Precise). Deal the extra +1d6 damage if I can.
[OOC]
I'm not using a separate thread for OOC.
My bronze idea is out, but now I'm thinking that each time we defeat a statue-creature, we get a yes/no question answered. We then use those questions to figure out which is the true treasure. For example, the first question would be: 'is the true treasure made of metal?'. That would eliminate a ton of options right off the bat. Kind of like Twenty Questions. But with six.
Totes cool for not using the OOC thread for minor chatter, but more tactical/dense discussion, it might be better over there, no as not to saturate this thread with too much info.
DeleteAlso, your 'process of elimination' tactic is a terrific suggestion; that line of questioning is obviously the best choice. Lets shred this undead jerk and get outta this moist hellhole!
Ross is totally on the right track here. Ask the right questions and you can narrow it down pretty quickly. I suggest starting with his question.

ReplyDeleteAs the lighting crashes down behind him, Vulture stuffs his newly acquired figurine into his pack. With stone falling all around him, he turns to see an enormous creature reaching for his comrades. With no time to think, Vulture sticks to the shadows as he sprints behind the towering figure. Once in range, Vulture leaps and drives his sludge covered dagger into the back of the skeletal being.

Stealth +2 to stay unnoticed by the lich for backstab (roll+DEX(+2)) for that. Let's hit a 10 at least, so I can choose 2!

ReplyDeleteCloak billowing in the explosion of stone raining down around her, The Mother Unwilling slams her staff into the grime, opening the palm inlaid with an ancient amulet: The Khamsa.
The eye-shaped amulet embedded in her hand emits a FLASH!, and as the gleam subsides it reveals her dash towards the Ancient One, dropping to one knee and sliding through the sludge as she balls her tiny fists in tandem with the attacks of her fellow Sin-Eaters.
As her punches rocket upwards into the Lich's chest cavity, they instantly calcify into the elaborate horns of the Great Southron Goat! The muscles in her legs snapping, bone splitting into a quadrupedal gate, exploding upwards...
[Tech]
Invoking my shape-change ability, roll+WIS(2). 10+ hold 3, 7-9 hold 2, 6- hold 1 plus whatever you say.
Using 1 hold to use the move 'BREAK THROUGH' on this bony jerk's body.
So, like, a 3-D TANDEM STRIKE, Chrono Trigger style.
Having surveyed the scene, Sornë streaks towards the greatest threat, screeching loudly in an attempt to draw attention to the ogres on top of the tower.
ReplyDelete[OOC/Tech]
Joe, do those explosive heads have lit fuses? :D
Assuming they do, I fly in , snatch a lit fuse and use it to light another fuse closer to the base of a skull before flying off to safety.
If they don't have fuses, then I assume they blow up on impact. I fly in the face of an ogre and try to get it to drop a skull.
[OOC]
DeleteJoe mentions in the post above that we can be creative about taking control of the narrative; we are empowered! What do YOU think the explosives are like?
[OOC]
DeleteI may have missed that. In that case... (includes minor correction as it's hill giants and not ogres.
[Sornë]
Sornë flies in the face of the hill giant as it attempts to gently load the fragile explosives into the war machine. His owl form rakes and bites at its eyes and nose, hoping that the giant will drop the brittle skull and destroy the catapult.
[TECH]
Hack & Slash? Defy Danger?
[OOC]
DeleteHunter, you had it right the first time. Ogres are loading explosive filled hill giant skulls onto catapults lol
[Haargarth]
ReplyDeleteHaargarth's flail caves in the ogre's face before it can alert anyone, much less crush Haargarth's windpipe! The blood splatters against the walls and stairs as the ogre topples onto the floor like a lifeless doll.
Above, beyond the trapdoor in the ceiling, he hears another ogre barking orders to someone, and the sounds of exertion and grinding mechanics... a winch being pulled back?
Tech: The Mithril Splint Mail +1 would increase your armor to 3, if you donned it. So far you've not had time to do that. Donning armor takes time, can't be done that quickly. As for your Hack 'n Slash, you rolled attack 11 and 10 damage! Ogre is DEAD. Nice job.
[MAEDROS SON OF FAENOR]
The Gleaming Blade of Eternal Starlight misses the Lich's neck but still strikes true, clean severing off one of it's arms which transforms into a mass of slithering SOULROT VIPERS! The soulrot vipers swarm all about Maedros' legs, biting and constricting as they begin to make their way up towards his torso.
Tech: CRITICAL HIT (NATURAL 12) for MAXIMUM DAMAGE (16)!!! YOU NOW HAVE ONE UNUSED QUESTION TO ASK. Maedros takes 11 points of necrotic/bleeding damage from the vipers (after armor reduction) and 2 points of poison/acid damage from swamp gas inhalation. Maedros has 10 hp remaining.
[Vulture]
OOC: If by Stealth you mean the "Backstab" move, that does not apply here. The enemy must be surprised or defenseless, and the Lich is neither. Now, that doesn't mean you can't still try to stealth around and stuff, but you don't invoke the backstab move unless you specifically trigger it. Since I was unsure, I skipped you and did Azul's move next.
[Azul]
Azul reduces the Lich to a pile of desiccated gibs, which bursts into flame and ash! YOU NOW HAVE TWO UNUSED QUESTIONS.
Tech: You rolled 9 for 2 hold. Your 'break through' move rolled 11, for 9 damage - enough to kill that Lich easy. The soulrot vipers are still a problem for Maedros though.
[Sornë]
Sornë does indeed get the attention of the ogres. While two of them continue to winch and load the catapult, the third pulls back on a great black bow decked out with human skulls. An arrow whizzes past Sornë, and the ogre takes aim yet again. The owl flies in to attack one of the ogres loading the catapult... and indeed the ammunition is dropped! It explodes spectacularly, singing Sornë and taking out one of the catapults completely. The three ogres loading it are nothing more than a shower of gibs on the battlefield.
Tech: Hack-n-Slash of 10. In this case, due to the narrative, damage to you was unavoidable despite the roll. Small price to pay to kill three ogres and take out one catapult! Sornë takes 10 points of fire damage, leaving him with 8 hp remaining. Also, which tower's catapult did you take out? Copper, Iron, or Bronze?
THE LIGHTNING CRACKS A SECOND TIME, STRIKING THE STATUE OF THE... (WHICH STATUE, CRUSADERS? Answer quickly!!!)
The lightning smashes into the Chimera, It's three heads roaring in its freedom!
ReplyDeleteHaargaarth heads for the trap door in the floor, stomping over the dead ogre's body, having no idea the starlord has called for him through the rain.
[OOC]
Ok, thought there was a time delay.
Also, Chast, don't you dare hold back any thoughts on what item we need out of the 100. The puzzle is a moving target, past experience isn't predictive of future success!
I'm headed into the trapdoor, I have a feeling there is a clue down here!
[Tech]
N/A
OOC: Yes, feel free to jump in on this, because I may have changed some details since you last playtested. Thanks!
DeleteOOC: Deuce, while I sometimes question your logic, I *never* question your decisive action! Keep up the good work and GET TO THE CHOPPA!
Delete[OOC]
DeleteRoss, by all means, question my logic! I have serious doubts that we'll be able to easily surmise the correct item needed to cross the bridge with only six questions. Hoping there is an extra piece of the puzzle down here. Don't worry, if this tower comes up empty, I'm coming back to join the slaughter! Because THIS IS WAR!

ReplyDeleteFlying throug the air, dagger in hand, Vulture lunges at the lich to drive the shimmering gold blade deep into its back. Just as the dagger pierced the lich's garb, the lich burst into flames, leaving Vulture standing in a pile of soulrot vipers. Pulling his rapier, knowing its blade to always be true, Vulture begins to skewer the wretched snakes into a shishkabob of slithering black noodles.

Hack and Slash (roll+DEX(+2)precise weapon tag). Instead of doing the optional +1d6, lets just poke more snakes!
The explosion rocks the top of the bronze tower and the force of it throws a smoking projectile, Sornë, clear of the blast. The owlish druid recovers and circles around for his next target. While effective, another attempt to disrupt the catapults in the same fashion could prove fatal.
ReplyDeleteThis time he dives toward the copper tower and attempts to trigger the catapult before it is properly aimed. Sornë crashes into the face of the ogre whose hand is on the lever and unleashes the full fury of his feathered form.

The monstrous effigies continue their onslaught, and she lowers her great 7 curling horns as the black wool on her back shows a green luster in the lightning's glare.
Pawing at the ground with a cloven hoof, she explodes into action, charging the frothing Manticore!

[MAEDHROS]
ReplyDeleteThe Elf-Lord stabs his shining blade into the ground then uses his hand to handfuls of writhing snakes at a time. Each time he grabs a bunch of serpents, his hand turns rotten; blackened, full of pustules and boils, fingernails yellowed. The rotting disease of the demon Primagaki is channeled through noble Elf hands and intothe snakes, melting snakes into small piles of putrid debris.
Maedhros then shouts out to the remaining statues' general direction, "There now, cruel wardens! We have faced your test and demand an answer: is the true treasure made of metal?"
[OOC]
There is now a cheat code to walk through walls: MSISPOPD.
Assuming I'm on the right track here with the puzzle, when asking questions, try and find ways to eliminate the most number of answers at a time.

[Azul Khadon]
Azul charges the Chimera, taking advantage of Milliandre's distraction. While she does wound it greatly, Azul doesn't get to enjoy the success of her attack for long. OOC: The destruction of the remaining vipers is as you said above. In taping into this demonic power, you are changed somehow physically, permanently. What form does this take?
It seems that every time you hit the main creature successfully, you gain a question. You are currently at 3 unused questions. Keep 'em coming!

Maedhros' hand blackens permanently, always oozing from pustules and open sores. As the adventure progresses, flesh falls from bone like that of a leper until naught is left but a skeletal claw upon which maggots feast on the specks of rotting meat remaining. It is totally gross.

A darkened shaft doesn't worry Haargarth. He holsters his shield for the moment, pulls a torch from his pack, and climbs down. If the shaft is long, he will circle back to the sounds of battle. Hearing the screams of a chimera and not being the one to best it nags at him!
Delete[OOC]
No unlit shaft is going to stop Haargaarth. I'm assuming there is a torch or two inside my adventuring gear, so drop
[Tech]
An adventurers pack has five uses, but doesn't actually list a torch as a component. Working with the DW gazetteer, there's not a single torch listed under the equipment section. So I'm making an assumption here.
Adventuring gear is narrative-driven. So, whatever you think your character may have packed in your gear, they already had all along. Then you mark off 1 use. So, you have 4 uses, or 'tool, item, whatever' left in your pack.
Delete[OOC]
DeleteFor those keeping track at home, if the item isn't made of metal, then that's 42 items off the list! If its not wood, that's another 13. There are also 8 scrolls, 8 potions (after removing metal from the equation), 6 glass items, 3 made of bone, etc.
Depending on the outcome, may I suggest someone ask if the item is stoppered? Would help narrow it down to a potion, flask, etc. if the item is not made of solid wood.
[OOC]
DeleteAs soon as I get the chance, I am going to take his suggestion. Thanks for being Rossome, dude!
[OOC] Considering that the answer is delivered by the statues, we may need to keep one alive both for confirmation of our last question and to active by handing the correct item.
DeleteFYI: Sornë gains 1 XP for rolling 6-.
ReplyDeleteThat should read:
DeleteFYI: Sornë gains 1 XP for rolling 6-. He now has 1 XP.
[Azul Khadon]
ReplyDeleteIts thundering form depleted, The Great Southron Goat shudders, vomiting The Mother Unwilling at its feet before cracking and crumbling into sand, scattered in the wind.
As she rises, Azul dips her fingers into the swamp below, and bellows: "O Sentinels! Is our key to this riddle composed of Solid Wood?" Smearing the mud and muck onto her gums, she curls her tongue in The 3rd Way, speaking the language of Worms and Vermin.
'I shall not fall to one so lowly as you! Come at with all you have, unless you worms are truly cowards!'
With that, she she takes a single calculated step towards the Worm Thing, positioned between it and the raging Manticore behind her...
[Tech]
Using up one of my questions, taking Ross' lead.
I am using Spirit Tongue to (hopefully) goad the monster into striking, prepared to Defy Danger using WIS (+2). By defying danger, I am trying to outwit the thing and redirect its attack into the Manticore.
[OOC]
Well this is escalating quickly. Before unleashing more statues, lets focus on neutralizing the threats in the last tower. I could go with no artillery hitting us during the brawl.
[OOC]
DeleteHard moves are hard moves, Joe could unleash hell on us all from pretty much anywhere given the opportunity. This dark shaft inside the tower is also probably another way in (but also potentially deadlier?), so if we can't figure it out, we run here.
[Vulture]
ReplyDeleteUsing his rapier as a sling, of sorts, Vulture whips it in the direction of the tentacled beast, flinging several soulrot vipers through the air to eat away at the vile beast !

[OOC]
Oh baby. Things bout to get cray
Melliandre grins and returns to beating the foul creature with her rapier, singing cheerfully despite the horrible scene as she does so, giggling almost childishly. The worm is of course distressing, but ignoring the Chimera still trying to eat her would be silly. Besides, the worm will doubtless pay her the proper attention before long anyway...
ReplyDelete[Tech]
Hack&Slash on Mr. Chimera, because he is alive and this annoys me. (roll+DEX(0)
[OOC]
Sorry for the delay, the weekend was Cray-Cray and I wasn't even home most of the time.
Crusaders, I plan to post tomorrow for the week, and then not again until next Monday. (Due to Thanksgiving). This gives me time to respond to your actions, and consider player feedback. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBloodied and beaten, Sornë wracks his brain for an alternative to dying and, in his desperation, a seed long dormant begins to grow.
ReplyDeleteThe raptor druid takes wing once again and laboriously approaches the top of the copper tower, keeping close to the walls an ascending in a spiral path, trying to avoid detection. It is not a feathered foe that crests the crenelations, however, but the hoary claws of a werewolf. As soon as Sornë's lupine eyes fall upon the ogres a hideous transformation occurs. Wracked with painful spasms, the ogres turns into fiendish werewolves themselves and turn their attention to their former allies with hungry eyes and empty bellies! Sornë laughs at the chaos he has created, but the voice that is heard seems to come from some unimaginable distance.
[Tech]
Shapeshift just before Sornë crests the tower.
He calls upon his demonic demonic aspect thinking, at first, that this is some new well of druidic power previously untapped.
Each player should have now received a special email from me. Please read the instructions carefully and respond as you have time. Thanks!
