Tharl cuts his hand and allows the drops of blood to trickle into the statue's throat.Suddenly, the spike thrusts forward! Tharl was ready for this and avoids the spike. However, the magic seems to pull the blood out of him faster than the cut was designed to do. The spike attempts to retract, but you hear the sounds of mechanical failure within; time has corroded the spike mechanism. Tharl is able to pull his hand away if he so wishes.
Two things happen then, at the same time. First, the tears from the statue's eyes cease immediately. Second, the ceiling of the hallway to the west of you starts to descend, trapping you in?
Nothing springs forth from the southern doors, but they are still closed.
Tech: See map for the area (in red) that is being blocked off. I believe all of you are east of this area, so if you want to try to go back west before the deadfall trap completes, let me know. Success of traversing the area before getting crushed is not certain.
Also, Tharl takes 9 damage and is down to 6 hit points.
Good Luck!

Joryn turns to his allies and puts his hand on the pull ring of the door. "Should I open it or should we wait and deal with this statue first?"
ReplyDeleteLohmi was alarmed at the trap. He hadn't expected something like that to happen. "I'm not sure if there's anything further to do with the statue. Perhaps we should examine the north doors as well?"
ReplyDelete"Whatever we do next," says Finding to everyone, "I think we should take a rest as soon as we can."
ReplyDeleteShe puts the finishing touches to the torch holster on her pack, and raises her voice over the noise of the descending ceiling. "I don't think we're going to go back, I only have one healing infusion ready to use which Tharl or Vondal should probably make use of now anyway and if we're going to be moving forward where there's a chance of more bloodshed I want to make sure that I'm fully prepared."
Ambrose adds to the conversation, "But let's do one door at a time. Since one is already unlocked, let's peak in there first. Then lock it up and check out the other door. We really don't have much options beyond that for movement. Hope there's another way out, or we figure out a trigger to raise the passage ceiling again."
ReplyDeleteOOC: Since we're still in chamber 1, I'll point out some things. Is anyone actually opening the southern door? (I see talk about it, but nobody actually doing it.) Also, Finding, what about the two stones you have?
ReplyDeleteIn future chambers, if you forget to post an action to do something, you didn't do it (if that makes sense).
Joryn slowly opens the door, cautiously listening to hear if anything catches as it drags across the floor ready to stop at the first sign of trouble. He peers around the door to see what awaits him.
ReplyDeleteThe door opens slowly, your light slowly revealing a 10x10' alcove beyond it. The glint of silver catches your eye first, from a pile of silver coins on the floor. You estimate a least 1000 silver pieces, probably more! Two beautiful gems rest on top of the pile... moonstones.
ReplyDeleteAlso, propped against the eastern wall is a suit of plate mail armor crafted from interlocking plates of marble!
There seems to be no other exits from this treasure cache.
Lohmi moves to stand a few feet behind Joryn, ready to support him if any hostile creatures attacked.
ReplyDeleteLohmi senses magic on the suit of stone armor. Good magic, the "keep sword hits from going through" kind of magic.
ReplyDeleteOOC: Heading out to the airport soon, will be out of touch until Monday morning! Keep the posts coming though, you guys are nearly done with chamber 1... but the danger may not be over!
Ambrose also moves forward enough to scan the room. With the wave of his hand he creates a light source on the ceiling so others don't need to hold a light source for the room. Also he attempts to sense any additional magiks in the room and possibly what type.
ReplyDelete"Looks like that armor has some protective magic on it." Lohmi said. "Definitely could be useful."
ReplyDeleteLohmi still remains outside the room in case there are any traps.
Pulling the two White stones out of her bag, Finding climbs back up the statue, and inserts them into the eye sockets.
ReplyDeleteOOC: I feel a bit silly for forgetting about the stones.
Joryn walks over and begins sizing up that armor. Platemail is his thing, but marble plate mail? He waits to see if it something he could take advantage of. Picking up the armor, he tries to identify what it is.
ReplyDeleteTharl sits to meditate and rest while his companions explore. "We may have lost the ability to disable whatever trap will be activated when we try the north door thanks to my actions. I appologize."
ReplyDeleteTech: Trying for a short rest here so I can spend 2 healing surges.
