Smudge's crossbow bolt grazes Aramagan's shoulder, distracting him momentarily.
Tech: Crossbow bolt hit on Aramagon, he is BLOODIED!
[Ambrose]
Ambrose finds out first-hand how slippery these flaming-grease stairs are. No more than one step in, and and he nearly falls. But he keeps his footing and ascends without further trouble. At the top, he sees an animated statue of a three-headed hydra attacking Tharl. Tharl is hurt, and against the ropes.
Ambrose produces the Wand of Fiery Bolt, an iron wand the length of a forearm, topped with an imp's skull. A fiery blast sails between the bars of Tharl's jail cell and damages all three of the hydralith heads. None of them are outright destroyed, however.
Tech: 11 points of fire damage to one head, and 6 to the others. Ambrose takes 5 damage from passing through the fiery stairs (21 hp remain).

| What is Aramagan up to? |
Reaching out to Travok, the dark cultist fills the paladin with battle rage. Travok moves and attacks Ambrose, but Ambrose dodges the attack.
Seeing his curse fail, he changes tactics. He maneuvers quickly down the western wall, avoiding your attacks. At last, he hurdles the low cover wall and drops down the 20 feet to the poison tier below. You hear him cry out in pain as he hits the floor harder than he had hoped! He's out of view for all but Joryn, who can see Aramagan next to the portal that brought you here.
[Hydralith]
Tharl's luck finally runs out. The three hydra heads thrash him greatly, splattering his blood against the bars of the cage. Tharl drops to the floor, unconscious. Is he still alive?
Then an odd thing happens. Ambrose turns 2-dimensional for a fraction of a second, then vanishes. He appears with a Pop! in the cell (and 3-Dimensional), right next to the fountain and hydralith! The teleportation seems to have taken the wind out of Ambrose's sails, and he stands there idly trying to recover.
Tech: Even after Tharl takes 26 points of damage, is prone/unconscious at -13 hp. Ambrose is DAZED.
Dazed: While a creature is dazed, it doesn’t get its normal complement of actions on its turn; it can take either a standard, a move, or a minor action. The creature can still take free actions, but it can’t take immediate or opportunity actions. It also grants combat advantage and can’t flank.
OOC: I am very excited to see what you guys do next! What is Aramagan up to? Can you spare the attention to go after him? Is Ambrose going to fall to the Hydralith? Ooh, the anticipation!
Start of next round, Joryn and Mika take 5 fire damage for being on the fiery stairs.
Good Luck!
MilwaukeeJoe

Angrily, Mika steps up the last bit of stairs, and stalks over to glare angrily down at Aramagan. With an angry cry, Mika sends a blast of holy fire at the man. Hoping to finish off the sinister cultist.
ReplyDeleteOOC: Moving to B6 and using Sacred Flame on Aramagan.
Wis vs. Reflex: +5 vs reflex.
Deals 1d6+4 radiant damage and one ally gains 3 temporary hitpoints (Ambrose).
Aramagan hears Mika's chanting and uses counterprayer to negate the attack!
ReplyDeleteTech: That's just a fancy way of saying you missed. Cold dice.
Dazed, Ambrose tries to clear his thoughts, "By the Golden Forest, what tree did I fall out of!"
ReplyDeleteGlancing up, he realizes that he is now in the cage with a fallen Tharl and a 3-headed creature that he has made even angrier! "Some help comrades! I'm about to become dragon dung!"
Joryn hollers back toward the cluster of his teammates, "RUN BACK AND GET THE MAGE OUT! HE'S SQUISHY, BUT HELPFUL!" Then Joryn turns back to Aramagan and wades into the poison fumes yet again. "I don't know where you think you're going, but you won't touch my mind again!" With a roar, he swings with everything he has to try and finish the evil priest.
ReplyDeleteTech:
Move action: move to C4
Standard action: Vengeful Strike, +9 vs AC, 1d8+7 damage (including a +3 since bloodied ally close)
Snorting with laughter as he hears Joryn's cry, Smudge crosses the room to the door of the jail. Slipping into dwarvish, he says to the paladin as he passes "come with me, and bring your hands." He carefully examines the door, and goes to unlock it.
ReplyDeleteTech:
Move to E11.
Perception check jail door for traps (Perception 9 + 2 for Trap Sense feat)
Disarm any traps or if no traps then unlock the door.
OOC: I should add - just because Smudge has asked Travok to come with him, don't feel that you have to if you had other plans!
ReplyDelete[Joryn]
ReplyDeleteJoryn expresses his inner rage with his longsword swing, but Aramagan uses his armor to deflect the blow.
Tech: Joryn takes 5 points poison damage for entering the lower area. That consumes the rest of his temp hp, and brings his hp down to 9.
[Smudge]
Smudge gets close to the cell door and examines the lock. His hopes might be a bit dashed, as he sees a circle of abyssal runes around the lock - a telltale sign of a potentially nasty unholy trap that will fire should he fail in his attempt to pick the lock.
Tech: Thievery DC 25 to unlock the door. Rolling 20 or less will activate the trap. Let me know if you make the attempt, which you can still do this round as a minor action.
OOC: I'll give Travok and Smudge today to post, and post for the villains tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSmudge bides his time, confident he'll get it open shortly.
ReplyDeleteTech: Minor action - Knack for Success - Target - Myself. +4 power bonus to next skill check made before the end of my next turn.
This round, Ambrose will take a dazed move out of the cage if Smudge opens the lock or he will fire off another bolt at the creature if not.
ReplyDelete[Travok]
ReplyDeleteTravok is not happy of the main cultist leaving the space that he worked hard to get across but see the bigger threat and someone in need of help, he moves next to the rogue. "All right. I'll try." He puts his hands on the bars as suggested.
[ooc]
Move action: move to D11
Minor action: Lay on Hands on bars
Free action: talking
Standard action: none
[tag DM]
OOC: Spent today working from home and taking care of a sick kid. No time to post today... setting aside my lunch hour tomorrow!
