While the final chamber for Grind4E is playing out, I'd like to start extending the invitations for the next Dungeons & Dragons adventure, "C1: Crucible of the Gods" (SVD).
The Teaser: The four deities threaten to drown the world in a flood of saltwater to punish the living for their impiety. However, if YOU successfully stead the Crucible and light the divine brazier before the ziggurat seals, the "gracious" gods will spare you of your most deserved fate.
Note: You do NOT have to have previously played in the "Weekly Grind 4E" to play in Crucible.
Requirements to Play:
- You are a first-time player who has not yet attempted the adventure.
- You've read the Player Handout.
- You're able to post 2-3 times a week, minimum.
- You've made peace with the idea of your dungeoneer dying in horrible ways, but know in your heart of hearts that a smart game player just might survive.
How to Apply:
Send me an email (grind@saveversusdeath.com) containing:
Send me an email (grind@saveversusdeath.com) containing:
- A first-level dungeoneer (the dnd4e file) created through WotC's online Character Builder. No setting specific backgrounds. If you want to see the other approved dungeoneers, look here.
- A small paragraph telling me about the first D&D game you ever played. And if this happens to be your first D&D game, well, awesome!
Final Thoughts:
- Estimated start date for this adventure is February 1, or sooner if the current chamber concludes more quickly.
- When played at the table, this adventure normally has a time limit of 4 hours. To emulate this, the play-by-blog will also have a time limit. You must complete the adventure by Friday, August 10, 2012 (the Friday before Gencon 2012).
- When creating your dungeoneer, keep in mind that this adventure will have NO extended rests. The entire game takes place in one evening, game time.
Looking forward to your submissions! Feel free to ask questions in the comments section below.

Sorry for emailing you this question as well, just noticed the last line of the post.
ReplyDeleteBy no setting specific backgrounds, do you mean no Dark Sun/Eberron/Forgotten Realms/Neverwinter/Scales of War, but General backgrounds are allowable?
No idea if this comment will work or not, time to find out!
Actually, I meant no backgrounds in general. Which isn't to say you can't make up a fun backstory, but nothing that gives you a crunch bonus. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOne dungeoneer has been accepted! Get those submissions in, spots are vanishing rapidly!
ReplyDeleteMan, I am jonesin' for this. I'm currently playing in a really blah PbP KotS game, and the FTDM stuff. And yeah, I could totally go for a nice blend of adventure and Fourthcore.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that said, two questions. Are the characters supposed to be generated sight-unseen? In a vacuum from the other dungeoneers?
And, what happens if you use Kishar's Boast on an area power with different results for different targets?
Angile, good questions.
ReplyDelete1. You don't have to generate your dungeoneers in a vacuum from the other dungeoneers. As dungeoneers get added, you can see them at the iplay4e site. Feel free to take a look there and alter your dungeoneer as needed for party synergy.

2. For Kishar's power, if used with an area attack: Before the rolling, pick one of the targets that will be the "test" of your divine boast. If that roll hits, then the boast succeeds. That's my interpretation anyway, I'll ask Sersa V (author) to see if he agrees and get back to you.
We are up to TWO dungeoneers accepted! Only four more to go, spots are going fast!
ReplyDeleteA THIRD dungeoneer joins the ranks. THREE spots left.
ReplyDeleteA FOURTH dungeoneer joins the ranks. TWO spots remain.
ReplyDeleteAdded a comment to the "notes" section above, that reads, "When creating your dungeoneer, keep in mind that this adventure will have NO extended rests. The entire game takes place in one evening, game time."
ReplyDeleteHola! Just wanted to say that while my character builder is acting up, my scanner isn't....and I wanted to give a heads up to what I'll be playing with you fellow death marchers.
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned in the Fourthcore Podcast #3: Sadhorn Angerflames.

I'm making him a Warden so we have a defender for all you striker types. Will get this up on iPlay4e as soon as I can, but wanted to give the undecided a heads up. And hello!
