Chamber 6-Finale: Sanguinary

Joryn regains consciousness, lifting his head just enough to witness Ambrose dodge and weave past the many Hydralith heads that seek to end the mage's life. The three elements he places into the cup-like indentations: his own blood, sweat and tears.

Instantly, the hydralith shrink and reverts back to an simple, three-headed, inanimate statue!

Looking back down, Ambrose sees the drops of the three cups drain through the the bottom, mixing with the fountain water. A transformation begins, the fountain waters condensing and draining into a glass beaker that rises out of the fountain’s base.

Ambrose detects magical auras coming off the potion, and quickly identifies it as a "Brute Formula" (level 11).

Elsewhere in the chamber, the fire finally consumes the grease on the stairs and extinguishes. The poison of the lower tier also settles into floor cracks and dissipates.

The battle is over.

While Joryn is revived, you also find two magic items on the body of Aramagan: his flail is a +1 Heavy Flail of Healing (Adventurer's Vault) and a Bag of Holding (Dungeon Master's Book).

A parchment found on Aramagan also details instructions to guard this location until, "the blood of the last of the prophetic line can be drained fully." The reading of the document sends chills down your spine.

Congratulations on finishing Chamber 6!

XP & Ambrose Level UP!
You each earn 150 XP. However, for solving the Hydralith puzzle, Ambrose will receive an additional 200 XP, which means he achieves a level up!  Ambrose, send me your level up choices ASAP. Congrats! What you choose may very well alter the outcome of the final chamber.

Extended Rests
While story-wise you can't go back to town for an extended rest, I will still allow you the benefits of the rest if you spent 5 of your hard-earned victory points. A short rest is still free. At this point, might as well smoke 'em while you got 'em.

Scoring Breakdown (Total points scored: 10 out of possible 12)
Primary Objective:
Defeat Aramagan and the Cultists (5 points)

Secondary Objective:
Destroy/disable the hydralith (3 points)

Minor Objectives (1 point each):
Successfully ascend the greased stairs
Retrieve the brass key ring

Performance:
A dungeoneer dies (-5 points each * 0 dungeoneers = 0 points)

Total points accumulated = 25 + 10 = 35.

The final chamber will not be scored. Expect the post for the final chamber to land this week, depending on how long it takes us to get through treasure equipping, leveling up, and so forth.

Looking forward to the finale!

  3. Ambrose recovers his Wand of fiery bolt and wonders how many more charges are left. If he can use a skill check to determine it, he will.

? Someone still has +2 Corset of the Marilith [Re: 5-7, Oct 6, 2011]? Its teleport ability may be useful.

? Also the Pentagram of Power [Re: 5-7, Oct 6, 2011]? or has this been used and consumed?

  4. Ambrose, refresh my memory... how many fiery bolts have you fired so far? The wand started with 10 charges, so you have (10 - usage) remaining.

  5. Pentagram of Power has not been used. I don't think anyone is using the Corset of the Marilith.

  6. Two charges from the wand of fiery bolt used against the hydra. 8/10 charges remain.

  8. I know Mika has burned his daily power. An extended rest would be helpful (my vote is yes).

Mika would also like that healing mace. What are are the properties of the mace?

  9. Joryn is feeling good, i already have the magic armor of marble and am currently holding the fiendish dagger. I'd love to give that over to the rogue if he wants it. It's good, but has some dangerous properties as well.

I also vote for extended rest. That was brutal.
