Revenge of the Iron Lich: Fast Forward Cutscene

Leaving the Lichmaker coffin behind, you travel through the western doorway to arrive once again at the Great Hall. It is as you left it. You retrieve the two fist-sized rubies from the northern door without incident.

You travel south to the Cobblestone Path, then drop into the 10' pit to head west to the Fane of Sight. You retrive the skull off the pedestal with the fake emeralds in the eye sockets. Back in the other direction... to the Iron Gallery. The place that claimed lives. From the back wall, Princess Teryn plucks out the two emeralds.

You now have six gems; two large, four small.

You backtrack, through the Cobblestone Path, Great Hall, Crypts of Iron, Temple of Extinction, and finally back to the Spectral Stair.

OOC: Ok, crew, you're back in the chamber with the Spectral Stair and the large statue-face of the Iron Lich's wife. If you had wanted to try out the Lichmaker Coffin, let me know. Otherwise, let me know what you're doing here...

"Ok, time to get down to business. We know this guy likes eyeballs. We have six gems, and I see six eyeholes around here. It only makes sense to put the set of four emeralds into the busts in that nice hallway over there. As for these rubies..." As she says this, Teryn fishes the fist-sized rubies out of her pack and holds them up to the oversized face opposite the stair, testing to see if they look like they'd fit.

Let's do this. Everything makes sense now.

  2. Yes, the larger gems look like a great fit for the big face.

Following Teryn through the dungeon, the mage keeps a wary eye over his shoulder. As she reaches up to place the gemstones into the open sockets, he brings his staff to bear, watching the open balcony and keeping a close eye on the pit beyond, ready for any movement.

Satisfied that this is where the rubies belong, Teryn begins the task of inserting the gems into the face. Her face scrunches in concentration as she works.

    Does anything happen?

The rubies are a perfect fit for the face. Nothing happens, however.

    "That was...anticlimatic." Yursil rasps.

    OOC: *cue gem grabbing montage!*

"Alright, next step." Eager to discover this chamber's secrets, the changeling moves through the door to the west into the ornate hallway. Setting her pack down between the two busts, she lays out her tools and the gems and begins work. "I wish someone would make *me* such a nice room..." Sweat beads on her face as she manipulates her tools, muttering to herself all the while. "Damn this smell. Pears? I could so go for some pears right now. Feels like I haven't eaten in a year."

Putting the four emeralds into the busts here. If it matters, I'll put the emeralds from the skull into the south bust.

You place the final four emeralds into the eyes of the hallway busts. Suddenly, back in the large chamber, the mouth of the large face opens with a loud rumbling!

Beyond, you spy a mirrored stairway that leads south (and down) to a closed stain-glass door on the east wall. The glass is an artistic mix of grey and black.

Jumping slightly as the mouth rumbles open, Hanrar peers cautiously down the hallway, making a face. "If our gracious host was a metaphorical man in his life, we might have to face our true selves down here..." He sighs, gesturing for his companions to follow, his staff ready.

Move towards the stained-glass door, sensing for arcane disruption and keeping a keen eye on his reflections. Arcana +24, Perception +10

The walls of the stairwell are polished mirrors that reflect an intolerably bright light. You cannot seem to identify where the light is coming from exactly. As you look into the reflection, you see yourself as a clockwork construct.

Approaching the door, it automatically unlocks with an audible [Click!] and opens inward.

OOC: And with that, the new chamber beyond will be revealed tomorrow! Stay tuned...

The Shadar-Kai lich stops for a moment as his fellows catch up, turning and moving closer to his automaton reflection, idly twisting his quarrel, a bit upset that his newly dessicated flesh has made its path a bit looser than before. He moves his arms and legs, watching the clockwork doppelganger dance in time with his moves like some kind of awkwardly complex marionette. Pausing for a moment, he pulls out the mithril gear, inspecting it in the reflection, wondering just how it might appear through the altered perception.

Maybe it will reveal some kind of clue or purpose to this weird hallway besides making me wish I had more thunder and shock based attacks to fight our soon-to-be hostile reflections!

"Well done, everybody! I wonder if this was the intended route?" Vesten quips aloud, as the group prepares to enter the new chamber.

  12. OOC: No lich-coffin for me. I like my healing surges, thank you very much! Plus, I have some necrotic resist already.
